What is Ti-6Al-4V
Ti-6Al-4V is a two-phase alpha-beta titanium alloy. Composition: 90% titanium, 6% aluminium, 4% vanadium. It is the world's most widely used aerospace alloy — used in turbine blades, medical implants, and now the finest MBCs on the Russian market.
Grade 5 means the alloy meets the 5th category under ASTM B265. That's not marketing — it's a contract for mechanical properties.
Why not steel
17-4 PH stainless steel is the conventional material for firearm accessories. Strong, affordable, and easy to machine. But it has a fundamental disadvantage: density of 7.8 g/cm³ versus 4.43 g/cm³ for Ti-6Al-4V.
A titanium MBC with the same geometry will weigh 1.75× less. That's not an abstract number — it's 80–120 grams off the muzzle, undetectable during carry, with no shift in weapon balance.
| Property | Steel 17-4 PH | Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Density, g/cm³ | 7.80 | 4.43 |
| Tensile strength, MPa | 1100 | 950–1100 |
| Specific strength | 141 kN·m/kg | 226 kN·m/kg |
| Corrosion resistance | Moderate | High |
| Typical MBC weight | 180–220 g | 100–130 g |
At comparable strength, titanium has 60% higher specific strength — same strength at lower mass and thinner walls.
Why not aluminium
7075-series aluminium alloys are genuinely light. But they have a fundamental lifespan problem: propellant gases at 600–900 °C rapidly erode aluminium in MBC ports. An aluminium MBC rarely lasts beyond 2,000–3,000 rounds.
Titanium has a melting point of 1,668 °C — nearly three times that of aluminium. The combination of heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and high specific strength makes it the only sensible choice for long-term service.
10,000-round lifespan
The stated lifespan of a Titanium Technology MBC is 10,000 rounds. This is not marketing: under normal cleaning and use in rated calibres, Ti-6Al-4V does not degrade in service conditions. The TiO₂ oxide film that forms on the surface is self-healing — unlike chrome plating on steel, which eventually cracks and spalls.

Bottom line
Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 is not a premium add-on. It's an engineering decision: minimum weight at maximum service life. That's why since 2017 we have made every product from this material and nothing else.
